I was brought up in little town, with little to no acquaintances and woods surrounding my house. I didn't have any area to have fun or grounds to run up and down. I am a mother of two today, and the grateful owner of an outdoor swing set. There are days when I just can't deal with my young children and all I can certainly do is to move them outdoor to play on it. Without the swings and slide to keep them engaged I don't get a break easily. So it makes me wonder how my mother managed. I recall climbing trees and hiking down trails in the forest to keep myself busy. Being an avid book reader I could engage myself for a lot of time in just the details of a story. But I never had an outdoor swing set unluckily.

I don't believe children nowadays have it better than we did back then, but I do think they have it easier. The lifestyle today requires so little effort in order for it to obtain amusement. My children can sit down and enter a different world without so much thinking about the word vision much less using one. The games are all interactive and loud with graphics that are even better than films I used to be so thrilled to see in the theaters two times each year. Whether you think this is better, but a majority will accept that it is not good.

Looks like more has changed than just the year, we have traded in backyard activities for outdoor swing sets.
